For those who write.

Professional writers write to make a living and when become successful, make a life. But many of us write not just either to make a living by earning bread for family or to live a luxurious life of a writer. This is because most of the writers in the trade believe that it is more a business of Saraswati than Lakshmi, where material bounty has lesser role to play than the role of intellect and progression towards perfection matters more. A writer with a poor sense of timing for using oppertunity to make money always loses in the race of money making and ends as a pauper like so many writers did.

However writing has always fancied many. Especially for young people it is an occupation to spend time and used as a medium of exhaustion of youthful emotions. Many think this fit as a difficult task and practice writing to attract others. Many goes on writing believing that practice shall make them one day perfect. All these beliefs has origin in someone thinking that it is difficult to write and even more difficult to write on topics which others find interesting. In the society where most of the people do not have time to think and leave this task to the writers and they only select one to read out of many writing  attempts. Many of those enjoyers often do not take notice that how wretched are those people who write for others and make only the life of others enjoyable. In this process the writers run away from their otherwise interesting life. These people spend a lot of theirtime in thinking and thinking about designs to make their writing more interesting. For content sometimes they think about absurd subjects, unrealistic things and unfounded theories to give a new look to their writings. Through this process the writer very often forgets his responsibilities to his family, wife, kids and friends in the name of achieving a greater goal in the society.

All these are fine as long as someone writes to make a living and for buying ration and for making a savings for his  children and make investment for family for future. An amateur writer always takes to writng as he finds in it some purposeful and meaningful occupation. A person with everything for his life can only find something to spend his time as he need not spend time for his daily requirements.

Now there are more numbers of amteur writers who come from high society or from people with lot of wealth and civil servants , all of them have good education from affluent public school have made writing an activity synonymous with grandeur. But for a persons like me who are happy with the jobs, at best a person of middle class background can think of why  writing has become a habit. One strong logic is that writing is a strong medium of expression and through it one can serve the society by making people aware of their roles and responsibilities.  Another logic sometimes offered is that through writing one gets self realisation as the writer is able to express in words his intricate thoughts which otherwise could have gone waste.

In all these arguments the primary need of a writer as it evolves is to get noticed and this strong sense of recognition need often makes the writer making to take the risk of becoming unsocial and unfamilial. The amount of time one spends in writing an article is sometimes more than a day, a month and even a year. This incubation time makes the writer self-centred and selfish as in this period the writer forgets his household responsibilities and social duties. In the name of being at a higher plane he cannot take the risk of getting affected by mundane things which may possibily contaminate his thought level. The worst sufferer is the poor wife of the writer. Sometimes the wife is illtreated as belonging to a lower plane not fitting to be a writer's wife.  She is both physically, materialy and emotionaly starved and her social needs are unsatiated.  But when the writer is honoured and gets his cherished recognition he always gives credit to his neglected wife the motivator of his success. But all these writers' wifes are not that fortunate some live all their life in misery with the dream that one day the writer husband will be honoured leaving a portion of his sucess for her satisfaction.
